Everyone loves Sketchbook for its elegant interface and natural drawing experience, free of distractions so you can focus on capturing. As of June 30, 2021, Autodesk is discontinuing SketchBook. Artists and illustrators love Sketchbook for its professional-grade feature set and highly customizable tools.
The most enjoyable of which are the symmetry tools. Sketchbook is an award-winning sketching, painting, and drawing app for anyone who loves to draw. Layer grouping and masking all happens in the Layers menu. That will place those layers into a folder, and you’ll see a folder icon with the layers nested underneath. You simply choose multiple layers (hold the Command key) and hit Command G (Group Layer). The app also tucks a few important items away in a right-click menu. The way to accomplish grouping is to link layers together and nest them in a folder. The color button quickly toggles to gray scale colors, a color dropper, and other colorific functions. The lagoon’s tool button lets users switch between eight drawing tools, including pen, marker, paintbrush, and more. It sits unobtrusively in the lower corner of the screen and can be moved to the opposite side (for left-handed artists). The rest of the tools are found within the lagoon.
The two palette colors the user is currently working with can be repositioned anywhere on screen with ease. Minor UI issues aside, Sketchbook Express should take no time at all for experienced digital artists to learn.Īutodesk has minimized screen clutter as much as possible, making it easy to focus on the sketch itself without the distraction of copious menus.
